Go Party, Dog!
I love this book. Sometimes, when I’m drawing a Rusty comic, I have it around for dog-like inspiration. You can see some of that in this older comic.

So I read all your Rusty comics today and this was, by far, my favorite.
(side note: I got here via your business casual comic via FML, which I slightly embarassed to admit. But good move doing one of those illustrated FMLs)
Anyway, my suggestion on this one would be to change the text to just “Rusty can’t wait to join the dog party”. I always found that the best one frame comics (Far Side…) fully explained what was going on, you had to be slightly knowledgable otherwise it wasn’t funny. And, let’s be serious, if you see this and you know Go Dog Go, that’s where your mind goes immediately and the text is just a duh. If you don’t know Go Dog Go, does the additional text still doesn’t get you in on the joke.
I also liked the big smile Rusty with the dead person in the background.

ramble on as much as you want because i think you made a valid good point. i probably “over-wrote” this comic and should have left off the ending phrase. if i wanted to explain it, i could have left that in the comments section.
